Sherry Marie Mullis

Jesup—Sherry Marie Mullis, 45, of Jesup died Dec. 17, 2022.

The avid University of Georgia Bulldog fan enjoyed working with children, helping others and loving her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Judy Mullis; and her brother, Jamie Mullis.

Survivors include her devoted sister, Sandra (Lonnie) Beasley of Jesup; a brother, Chris (Lori) Howe of Atlanta; nieces, Haley Beasley, Kristen, Lauren Howe; a nephew, Dayton Beasley; and a great-niece, Kynzlee.

Funeral services were held Dec. 19 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with the Rev. Guyvie Beasley officiating. Interment followed in the O’Quinn Cemetery. Active pallbearers were family and friends.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

Bobby Surrency

Odum—Bobby “Bob-O” Surrency, 71, of Odum died Dec. 18, 2022 under the care of Community Home Health and Hospice of South Georgia.

The Wayne County native was a member of the House of Worship and Ministries. He was a former equipment operator for Georgia Forestry Commission and later worked at ITT Rayonier in the woodyard. He found his passion in aviation, which led to crop dusting and pulling banners along the Georgia and Florida coasts.

He assisted the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office with search-and-rescue efforts by air and by land using his beloved blood hounds. He was member of the 1969 class of Wayne County High School and a longstanding member of the Boilermakers Union, Local No. 26 out of Statesboro.

He used humor in many of life’s situations, including his own sickness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. Sr. and Katie Nell Surrency.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Christie Horton Surrency of Odum; two daughters, Leslie (Marcus) Day and Lauren (Bill) Moseley, all of Odum; a son, Marion (Crystal) Surrency of Odum; six grandchildren, Shelby (Austin) Cravey, Madison Surrency, Lily Beth Day, Lila Brooke, Day, Chloe Surrency and Vanna Moseley; a brother, Gary (Jeannine) Surrency of Odum; several nieces and nephews; and a mother-in-law, Jerry Horton of Odum.

Funeral services were held Dec. 21 at House of Worship and Ministries with Pastor Mickey Tomberlin and the Rev. Calvin Anderson officiating. Interment followed in Red Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Joey Taylor, Danny Broadhurst, Tom Collins, Jacob Weaver, Eddie Surrency and Austin Surrency.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of South Georgia Building Fund, 1625 Sunset Blvd, Jesup, GA 31545.

Donnie Buggs

Ellenwood—Donnie Buggs, 57, of Ellenwood died Dec. 14, 2022, at Piedmont Henry Hospital.

Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 11 a.m. at Community Chapel Funeral Home of Jesup Inc., 2524 S. U.S. Hwy. 341, Jesup.
